On Tuesday, July 12 I will reach a marijuana review milestone. Having pen & published 150 marijuana reviews. That includes marijuana photo galleries too. The last two reviews published, Cindy Bubbles and DJ Short’s Blueberry were donation from cannabis growers I know. From their personal head stash. Review 150 is another personal grower donation. Their samples were awesome. l am developing an excellent nug network of people who want to show off their efforts. Always looking for more. You can send your product to be reviewed to 1161 St. Clair Ave West, Toronto, ON, M6E 1B2.
I always write my reviews under the influence of the marijuana being reviewed. Usually rocking out on Blip to get the beat of my words down. If I had it together I would return to my original career as a music critic and do cannabis and album reviews. Rock out to a album to be reviewed while vaporizing marijuana also being reviewed. My influence is to take a music critic approach to my weed reviews. With a bit of food critic thrown in. Note, the music critic is sent everything. Developing a pallet takes time. Publicists pester professional critics (not food ones), offer dinners, passes and the like to curry favor. If weed arrived around here at the pace music, movies and other culture sent to alt-weeklies like NOW I’d have to hire a staff.
It’s more difficult to be critical with weed because it’s generally all very, very, good. The people handing me buds are proud of their homegrown grass. They want to show someone who will appreciate it by photographing and blogging their senses. In other words I’m getting cream.
Rarely am I afforded an opportunity to review the same strain twice. I’ve had a few strains several times now. Especially my favorite Jean Guy. I can even identify her.
Then exactly what are we judging? The grower, the genetics or the bud. Or combination of all three. I believe all of the above. Some weed is well grown, but doesn’t do diddly for my health condition or have a solid marijuana high. Then there’s weed that works for me and isn’t well grown. Flush your plants! Breeders do produce strains that do just suck Cartman’s balls.
Marijuana grown by two different people will produce different results. Based on skill level, nutrients and soil. Presuming both received equal genetics. One growers seed maybe fresh and vibrant while another receives old tired beans.
A goal we have is to hold a grower competition involving the same strain. Everyone picks up their clone on the same day and returns 90 later with finished result. With the clone producer not allowed to compete as they grew the mother plant.

“I Don’t Want You To Smoke; I Just Want You To Understand Why I Do”
I Don’t Want You To Smoke; I Just Want You To Understand Why I Do
My name is No Inhale. I am 20 years old and I live in Portland, Oregon. I am part-owner and administrator for The Weed Blog. I don’t have a criminal record and I’m attending school full-time, but still people don’t think I am capable of leading a healthy and productive life. I’m not here to endorse smoking marijuana, nor am I here to convince anyone to try it. I am only asking those around me to, not only understand why I smoke cannabis, but accept it, as well.
I first smoked when I was a freshman in high school; I was 14 years old and just as blissfully unaware of my own ignorance as I am now. I didn’t like how it made me feel then, so I only did it a handful of times before quitting for the remainder of my high school career. I was approached by Johnny Green and Ninja Smoker in May of last year. They knew I supported those who used marijuana, but did not smoke it myself. This gave me enough credibility (and relevance) to start writing for the website. It’s a year later, and a few things have changed; mainly, that now I am, once again, a marijuana consumer.
I remember the petty judgments and shallow reception the “stoners” got in high school, but I always thought the animosity stemmed from 1,200 insecure teenagers forced to be around each other five days a week. Unfortunately, the adult world can be just as judgmental and closed-minded as a pack of 16 year old girls. Both sides of this issue are tired of the opposition’s repetitive rhetoric. Stoners, bible thumpers, rednecks, liberals, conservatives, hippies have all been beating their dead horses since June, 1971. It’s gotten so ridiculous that both sides are stretching the truth to serve their causes.
My time around cannabis culture has exposed me to hundreds of claims and “facts” about marijuana; many contradicting. What I have extrapolated from my experiences is much less dramatic than a painful death or a cure to all ailments. Marijuana is a plant; it grows naturally in the dirt. The fact that we have made nature illegal should show you how out of hand this has gotten. My father recently passed away from esophageal cancer. It was a three year battle of hell, but marijuana helped him enjoy his last years alive. I can’t imagine anyone would want to throw him in jail for trying to make his last years livable. Marijuana is not the cause of, nor the cure for, cancer, it’s just a plant that amplifies the positive emotions a person feels. Food tastes better, movies are more enjoyable, people are friendlier. Marijuana gives me a certain lucidity, a certain intimacy with everything around me, including myself. Sounds super stoney, right? So, who gives a shit?? Let me be a stoner. Let me laugh at Jay and Silent Bob, let me appreciate every-day objects as divine creation, let me see the beauty and symmetry this world has to offer. Why do you care? Let me enrich my life the way I want to. Let me roll my spliff and sink into my own subconscious, I promise you will come to see that marijuana is just another consumable this earth offers. No different from an apple, no different from chocolate cake, no different than salt and pepper. I don’t want you to join me (although you are always welcome), I just want you to understand and leave me to my happiness.

List of Marijuana Slang Terms
This has to be the most complete list of slang terms on the planet. Figured it was worth sharing. Thanks again hailmaryjane.com:
The Office of National Drug Policy has a few slang and colloquial terms for marijuana I was unfamiliar with. As a weed blogger, this is inexcusable, but I’m notoriously uncreative, plus I’m not prowling the streets for junk schwag in NYC (delivery for life!). Find out every slang word ever uttered about marijuana from “A-Bomb” to “Zoom,” and other terms you had no idea our government was using to describe weed, pot, nugget, sticky icky, marijuana or…Jeesh they’re ridiculous. Peep them after the jump and impress your friends with “dope” new slang.

5th Grader Turns in Pot-Smoking Parents
Parents Arrested After Fifth Grader Turns Them In For Having Marijuana Joints; Kid Inspired By L.A.-Founded D.A.R.E. Program
| D.A.R.E. ensares parents who smoke — gasp — joints. |
You gotta love D.A.R.E., the anti-drug program created by late Los Angeles police Chief Daryl Gates in 1983. It’s done a great job of eradicating drugs in schools. More importantly, it’s made snitches out of children who have been taught by cops to turn in their parents.
That’s what happened last week in Matthews, North Carolina, a suburb of Charlotte, where an 11-year-old elementary school kid brought a few joints to campus and turned them in, saying they belonged to mom and dad.
This, of course, was after the good officers at D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) came to school to give their anti-drug lecture.
Matthews police Officer Stason Tyrrell told WBTV the 5th grader did the right thing:
“Even if it’s happening in their own home with their own parents, they understand that’s a dangerous situation because of what we’re teaching them. That’s what they’re told to do, to make us aware.”
The dad, age 40, and the mom, age 38, were arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia — misdemeanors.
The dad, who’s name was withheld by the TV station, told WBTV it’s “no one’s business” how the 11-year-old got a hold the joints, and that “I don’t give drugs to my kids.”
D.A.R.E. has been widely criticized as ineffective, a product of the Just-Say-No ’80s. But its L.A.-based proselytizers carry on as if Nancy Reagan is still the first lady.
What’s ironic is that, had this case happened in D.A.R.E.’s hometown, the parents very well could have had a prescription for their weed, and the cops might have had to lay off.

A Bill that would take Marijuana off the controlled substances list.
cannabis Washington, D.C. — When the smoke clears, it may be remembered as a rare moment of political unity in Washington. House of Representatives Democrat Barney Frank and conservative Republican libertarian Ron Paul joined forces to introduce a bill that would take marijuana off the government’s list of controlled substances and eliminate criminal penalties. “Criminally prosecuting adults for making the choice to smoke marijuana is a waste of law enforcement resources and an intrusion on personal freedom,” Frank said in a statement on Thursday. “I do not advocate urging people to smoke marijuana, neither do I urge them to drink alcoholic beverages or smoke tobacco, but in none of these cases do I think prohibition enforced by criminal sanctions is good public policy,” Frank said. The move comes a day after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton returned from Guatemala and Jamaica on a trip aimed at injecting more funds and logistical support into American efforts to fight drug-trafficking. Critics argue U.S. attempts to beat back the drug trade have been costly and ineffective. According to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, the government spent about $15.1 billion on the fight against drug trafficking in fiscal year 2010, up from $14.8 billion in fiscal 2009. Marijuana is the most widely used illegal drug in the United States, with an estimated 11.5 million current users, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. At least one-third of the U.S. population has used marijuana sometime in their lives, and most of that marijuana was smuggled in from Mexico and other parts of Latin America, the DEA said. The Global Commission on Drug Policy, a high-level international commission, earlier this month declared the global “war on drugs” a failure and urged nations to consider legalizing cannabis and other drugs to undermine organized crime and protect their citizens’ health. But Clinton says progress in Colombia, where drug violence is down sharply, as a model. “Our experience in Colombia has shown what proactive investments and committed partnership can do,” Clinton said in Guatemala on Wednesday.

San Diego MMJ
Today Is Signature Deadline For Petitioners Opposed To San Diego MMJ Rules
Joe | May 27, 2011 | Comments 1
By today opponents of the new medical marijuana regulations in San Diego, California need to turn in more than 31,00 valid signatures to force the city council to revisit their plan to restrict medical cannabis dispensaries to more than 600 feet from residences, schools, churches – basically people of any kind. Under the rules operators are also required to get a permit which will costs thousands to obtain and take up to two years to get.
Opponents of the rules say they are basically a ban on dispensaries, which are allowed under Prop 215, and will be detrimental to patients in San Diego. According to reports, The California Cannabis Coalition had over 40,000 signatures by last weekend.
At this point we can only hope that enough valid signatures were obtained, or else patients in San Diego are going to find access to their medicine severely restricted.
It makes you wonder why patients in the city deserve this kind of treatment.

Booze Vs. Weed: Pick Your Poison
When I was younger I assumed that drunks and stoners must inherently hate each other, at least philosophically. Really my silliest assumption was that anyone only did one or the other. Every stoner I know loves beer, and every drunk I know gets excited when someone busts out a joint. Only jerkoffs are purist. Nonetheless, booze and weed are different beasts and there are strengths and weakness to each.
Endurance: Being drunk all day can be awesome, but it’s a plan rife with potential disaster that can lead to puking and gross errors in judgment. Whereas any wake’n'bake fan will tell you, all it takes to be stoned from sunup to sundown is the desire to do so and an appropriate supply.
win: weed
Party: When I was in Amsterdam the thing that struck me most about the “coffee shops” wasn’t that I could legally buy weed (I live in California after all), but how quiet the places were. People chat softly or just sit in a daze. You can’t really have a “crazy” stoner party. There are no weed keggers. Get a room of people stoned and you’ll probably all end up playing video games or watching a (bad) movie.
win: booze
Sports: A bit of alcohol dulls your inhibitions, which can actually improve your reaction timing. Of course that all goes out the window once you get shitfaced. But everything from softball to bowling is more fun with beer. Weed doesn’t make you worse at sports so much as it makes you not want to do them; touch football out, Madden on the PS3 in.
win: booze
Conversation: Drunks speak a language only other drunks can understand, and stoners tend to prattle meanderingly like nursing home inhabitants. Talking to either while you’re sober is awful.
win: neither
Chores: Painting or building IKEA crap seems like a great time to throw back some booze. Yes, it’ll make the process more fun, but your work will likely turn out embarrassing once you sober up. Getting high can greatly improve boring tasks like laundry and vacuuming, with little-to-no effect on your skill level. Though you are prone to dumbass gaffes like leaving your clothes in the drier all day.
win: weed
Sex: Sex is great both drunk and high. Drunk sex is wild; involving positions you’re not sure how you knew and on top of things that aren’t your bed. Stoned sex is hippie sex; slow and full of childlike wonderment. “Wow, this is great!” I’ve actually said out loud before during stoned sex.
win: both
A tie! More research is necessary. Who has some kush? I’ll bring the Scotch.
